One more thought:
why are these worth .5 to 3 MILLION, when a military person losing his life
for his country is only worth $200,000? In Viet Nam it was only $25,000.
Are we giving extra compensation to the men killed in friendly fire
recently? These numbers are all ridiculous. Men who died in combat also
left families, who were expected to get on with their lives with the
compensation deemed necessary at that time. I don't think they should get
anymore than military families, and the disabled should also have to apply
for benefits like the rest of us do, at their state offices. Shame on us
for preferential treatment.

I am a recent widow, 48 years old. My husband was career Army, died of
Agent Orange related cancer. Our SGLI was not available: we had financial
problems due to his PTSD and diabetes and chloracne, and couldn't keep
paying for it. Yes, I'm angry. Men who served in Nam are still dying from
the dioxin, and are being basically ignored, or their families snowed under
by paperwork and redtape. shame on us
