discrimination
Pursuant to last night's "Meet the Press" discussion with Kenneth Feinberg,
the head of the September 11 Victim's Compensation Fund (a program of the US
Dept. of Justice):
Why (how) is it okay to "get around" the law and make every effort to
compensate undocumented residents yet not make the same effort for lesbian
and gay partners of 9/11 victims? I do believe that ALL--including
"aliens"--should be helped through this tragedy. Yet Ashcroft's policy
clearly discriminates against those whom he feels are less worthy. It is
NOT a case of "just following existing state laws," as is disingenuously
claimed, since clearly existing laws regarding immigrant documentation are
be worked around. I am disgusted by the discrimination being practiced by
the small-minded the Public Morals Nazis in the face of this terrible human
tragedy.
